This is a very good photo, the light falls perfectly on the plate. Good depth of field too, but i think i could be more open at 5.6 to see a bit more details around the chicken, because we lost a big part of the image (like the kinda bread behind and the chicken piece in front =) Also, imo the photo should be taken a bit more from an upper angle.. it would more balanced the mass between plates and food because the plate takes a big part of the image, like a big mass with no informations to look at.. :) (sorry im trying hard to write in english right now haha!) But still really appetizing =D

Thanks for the comment and advice!

You're absolutely right about the depth of field.
Generally I love a very shallow depth of field, but in this case a bit more depth would have been better.

I actually have some shots of this salad with a more overhead view, but I didn't like them as much.
This perspective accentuates the curve of the plate and seems overall more harmonic to me.
Still I mostly just use few angles, as I generally just shoot in between cooking and eating (i.e. without much, if any, planning).
So it's entirely possible that I have missed a better view.

I'm really happy that you liked the shot, especially considering your own gorgeous work! =D

Yeah i agree for the curves of the plate, this perspective add a nice view on the border of the plate :)
I can definitely imagine that shot in a recipe book btw aha:)

Thx about my work :) Im always asking myself after i've eaten all the plate: Omg maybe there was a better angle for that shot LOOL :P Guess the first we chose will always be our favourite after time! :)

That's definitely true. Often you manage to frame your shot perfectly during the first few tries.

Sadly, just as often the lighting, focus etc are slightly off at the beginning.
Later on you fix those, but you forget redoing that early shots :(
